• Melt Pool - the liquid form of wax when candle is burning.
  • Full Melt Pool - when the liquid form of wax reaches the sides of the container.
  • Tunneling - when wax pool does not reach sides of container due to either extinguishing the flame before the pool reaches the sides or the candle was not properly wicked.
  • Soot - a black substance formed by combustion or separated from fuel during combustion, rising in fine particles.  Black smoke rising from the candle flame is known as sooting.  
  • Cold Throw - the scent cast off from an unlit candle.
  • Hot Throw - the scent cast off from a candle while burning.
